Is tradition fun?
it can be. I do love my sister’s fruitcake...just like mom used to make. And many people only eat turkey on thanksgiving. And the certain photos taken at the wedding—depending on your heritage, seem to be traditional. Don’t mess with the family recipe because we want those memories! That’s one reason I am a photographer...memories and traditions.
But is it fun? Not everyone likes fruitcake, turkey, or even weddings. And 2020 has forced us to be unique thinkers. Many of my best photos are not posed or traditional; but silly, spurred by a desire to laugh and find the absurdity in the moment. As we survive this day, season, year...look for the fun in this farcical time. It will be a fun story to tell around the campfires of tomorrow.
